I always like to take a deep dive into our new content partners.  We recently added mindgym to our library, giving us over 80 of their eWorkouts (a term I love). One of our curation managers recommended Find your mojo by mindgym, so I thought I would start there. This quick course went over how to find motivation at work when it might be a little lacking. I appreciated the quick videos and clever design that guided me through discovering my purpose, discovering my pleasure, and designing my day to get the most out of.  I love how this course gave me takeaway documents, like a mood diary and ended with a clear way to set goals. It’s always good to check in with ourselves and make sure we are making the most of each day.

I’m so excited to be designing a course that’s about a topic near and dear to my heart: Special Education. This course will cover a range of topics related to special education in the United States. It provides and overview of the legal requirements and procedures for identifying and serving students with disabilities, including the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process. It also covers best practices for writing IEPs and conducting IEP meetings, as well as briefly touching on strategies for providing effective instructional supports and accommodations, such as co-teaching and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). Additionally, the course explores some of the most common disabilities that qualify students for special education services.

BizLibrary has refreshed their library and added hundreds of new courses in all topics, from leadership and mental health to Microsoft 365. *BizLibrary is restricted in some regions.

This week I looked for courses that would help with change management.  Like all organizations, Go1 is always looking for ways to grow and improve and often that comes with the need to lead others through those changes. Always looking scanning the library for different formats, I found the book summary of The Heart of Change by John Kotter and Dan Cohen from our content partner Soundview, who provides us with a number of executive book summaries.  This quick read gave some great information and advice on how to implement change, get buy-in, and make the change stick. I appreciated the format of this summary, with quick callouts and anecdotes.

At the start of this month, the Moorooduc Primary School engaged in a whole-school EC Premium workshop to launch the platform with their dedicated Education Success Manager. Staff were supported to access their account, search the library, and engaged in learning on the platform in the one-hour sessions. Staff also made a commitment to themselves and their team regarding the learning they aim to complete in Term 1 of 2023.

The Moorooduc Learning Hub was set up in line with the school Strategic Improvement Plan with a focus on tangible and practical learning in their chosen improvement areas. The Senior Leadership Team has created an assigned learning journey for all staff who will engage in the whole school Professional Learning via the EC Premium platform.

Upskillist has added 139 new courses to the Content Hub. This collection of courses, each of which is 30 minutes in duration, ranges from hot topics in technology to how-to programming. Some example titles include E-commerce; Introduction to Prototyping; All about AI; The Evolution of Cryptocurrencies; Python Basics; and Advanced CSS.

Packt continues to grow their offering, adding 29 new in-depth courses to the Content Hub. With durations ranging from 4990 minutes (that’s three and a half days!) to 85 minutes, these courses provide up-to-date learning experiences with titles such as 101 UX Principles; CompTIA Security+ Certification SY0-601: The Total Course; Cyber Warfare – Truth, Tactics, and Strategies; and Job-Ready SQL in an Afternoon.

Marcom contributes a new series of six Safe Lifting courses tailored to different industries. The courses, each 30 minutes in duration, cover safe lifting in the following environments: Transportation and Warehouse; Office; Industrial; and Food Processing and Handling. They also cover the Healthcare environments for Medical Personnel, and Office and Maintenance Personnel. 

One of my New Year’s resolutions was to take courses in our library on topics that I’m not familiar with.  This week I took a course of becoming a physiognomist.  Not sure what that is?  I wasn’t either! This three-part course by Coorpacademy provides guidance on how to better remember people’s names and faces.  This course provides the science behind memorizing faces and name and actionable ways to increase your ability to do so. Definitely worth checking out.

Margaret Thorsborne is committed to strengthening the connections between people with a focus on the need to rebuild relationships in the wake of harmful antisocial behaviour. Restorative practices within schools is a whole school teaching and learning approach that encourages behaviour that is supportive and respectful. Located in Sydney's western suburbs and part of the Nirimba Collegiate, Seven Hills High School has worked with the Executive Leadership Team at EC by Go1 for the past year. Together, we have focussed on coaching, support and building bespoke online Professional Learning workshops to sit on their EC Premium platform.

In April 2022, CEO of EC by Go1, Dave Faulkner and Learning Designer, Glenn Solomons delivered a workshop at the Seven Hills High School Leadership Retreat. During the workshop, the leaders determined their strengths and areas of growth to better understand each other and work more collaboratively. The teams then developed a clear plan for implementing their 2022 goals. It was a success!
