These Champions then helped to launch to the rest of the staff by sharing their favourite course at a full staff meeting (with nibbles of course!). Within the first 48 hours, VLC had a massive 70% staff uptake with over 700 minutes of learning completed and they plan to embed the Learning Hub into their school culture more formally next year. Excellence indeed!

November 13th is World Kindness Day, which seemed like a good opportunity to see what in our library can help our customers honor kindness. As a leader, I was drawn to the Small Acts of Kindness series by Mindscaling. Mindscaling is a great content partner that provides us thoughtful microlearning for leaders to help them navigate leadership and management.  Small Acts of Kindness by Mindscaling is made of four short modules, including Assume Best Intentions, Create Energy Around You, Kindness is the Killer App, and Nourish Your Team.  I particularly liked the module on assuming best intentions.  As a leader, I feel that this is one of the most important things I can bring to work with me every day.  By assuming that people are coming to the situation with the best intentions, it becomes easier to communicate and resolve issues, with an understanding that everyone is trying their best.

Yeronga State High School is located in Brisbane, Queensland. Employing 80 staff and enrolling 775 students, many of which were born overseas, Yeronga provides an international educational experience by offering high specialised English language and literacy immersion. Across the school, all teachers actively access their EC Premium Learning Hub to enter a wide range of courses for their professional development, with a particular focus on leadership, global competence and wellbeing.

Staff are accessing courses that have been assigned to them by their administrator via the Groups functionality, as well as by individually searching for the content that specific to their own needs. In the short time that they have had access to our Learning Hub, a total of 33 courses have been completed by staff. Very impressive!

As a learning designer Dani works with you to design and deliver your professional learning programs, with a particular focus on quality teaching practice. Dani brings a decade of school teacher and leadership experience to the EC team, with a particular depth in the public sector. For most of us, days are busy and it can be hard to sneak learning in.  This past month, I have been focusing on content that is in different formats, allowing me to learn while I do other things.  I’ve recently taken a few courses from AssembleYou. Most of AssembleYou’s courses are audio-driven, but also often include additional documents, like transcripts and infographics, as well as a final quiz, to help create a more formal learning experience. This week I listed to Why Diverse Businesses are Winning.  This 15-minute course talked about how diverse teams helps avoid groupthink and actually catch more errors because they focus more on facts.  This was a great reminder on why it’s important to make a conscious effort to build diverse teams and set everyone up for success.  AssembleYou’s content is a great option if you are interested in learning more on your commute or walking your dog.

The co-creation of ‘The Drop’ has been one of the major successes of the partnership. The Drop is a bus that is used to take students to and from school, and it has been designed to be an engaging, exciting and supportive journey for students with the aim of improving attendance across the school.

With 100 staff online and an outstanding engagement rate of 83% so far into their first month of launch on EC Premium, we are ecstatic to have this amazing and forward-thinking school on our platform!

Around the world, September is recognized as Mental Health Awareness or Suicide Prevention Month. We have several providers who create courses around these topics. As a manager, I wanted to find a course that would help me better support my employees who may be struggling with their mental health. I spent some time taking Mental Health Awareness for Managers by The Mental Health Project. This course offered a great overview of mental health and things I can do as a manager to help my employees. Even for experienced managers, this course is a great refresher on how to support our employees.

These are the headline topics for our August playlists: “Cultivate Customer Satisfaction: Introduction to Customer Service” and “Elevate Your Sales Skills: Strategies for Selling.” In this edition, we’re spotlighting three of the content providers featured on these playlists: AssembleYou, Skillshub, and Thrive. 

Specializing in short, actionable courses, AssembleYou is a great choice for business skills, strategy, project management, and personal development (among many other topics). They are based in the UK, yet create training designed for global audiences. Many of the 230 AssembleYou courses available in the Content Hub feature an audio format and open with this guidance: “Sit back, close your eyes and listen. Better still, play this in the car, while gardening, or out jogging.”  More than half their courses are 30 minutes or shorter, with the longest course lasting 180 minutes. 

Skillshub is an engaging UK-based partner that offers micro-learning courses that can be taken as stand-alone learning experiences or sequenced together into learning pathways. With 888 courses currently in the Content Hub, Skillshub covers topics ranging from sales and customer service to diversity and wellbeing. Most courses, which vary in length from 2 to 25 minutes, are accompanied by a job aid to help transfer learning into real-world action. (There are three comprehensive courses, such as the Retail Sales Academy, that are more than 2 hours.)  

Known for their visual appeal and thoughtful content, Thrive courses and documents are a favorite of many learners. They offer 316 learning experiences in the Content Hub on contemporary topics such as reducing mental health stigma, neurodiversity, empathy, and flexible thinking, along with traditional topics like teamwork and hiring. Thrive calls the UK home, but also offers many of their courses in Italian as well as English.

What new content partners have we added to the Content Hub?

dss+ (formerly DuPont Sustainable Solutions) 

This new content provider, based in the US, offers courses on workplace safety, compliance, manufacturing, and soft skills.   

They feature 145 microlearning courses ranging from 5 to 15 minutes. Each course features a video, summary, and assessment. 

Titles include: The New Normal: Emergency Communication Plan for Employers; Safety Matters: Lockout/ Tagout; and Pause for Performance: Compassion. 

dss+ courses are currently available in English…but additional languages are coming soon! 

With 88 courses in the content hub, this new UK-based provider expands content coverage in the areas of communication, leadership, coaching, negotiation, and other critical soft skills.   

Courses by Maguire have a consistent UX, featuring an animated facilitator who guides learners through the experience. Each course is available in English and is 30 minutes in duration. 

Titles include: Mental Health Awareness; Understanding Different Personality Types; Giving Constructive Feedback; How to Mentor Effectively; and Coaching Using the GROW Model. 

The 16 new courses from US-based Get Control! are designed to “help digital workers get control, save time and get more done.” 

Each video-driven course is 30 minutes long and is available in English. 

Titles include: Get Control! of Email and Outlook; Get Control! of Google Search; Get Control! of OneDrive and SharePoint; and Get Control! of Digital Time Management. 

The 50 courses from this new content provider expand topic coverage ranging from business strategy and leadership to digital skills and teamwork. 

Soundview courses, all of which are 30 minutes or shorter, provide learners with PDF book summaries and videos featuring key insights from leading business authors. 

Titles include: 5 Ways to be an active learner; What is authentic leadership?; How to stop procrastinating; Connect with your people; and How to build a high engagement culture. 

This new content provider offers in-depth courses on human resources, business skills, leadership, and health & wellbeing. 

Designed using the ADDIE Adult Learning model, Velsoft courses are between two and four hours long and include explicit learning objectives, pre-and post-assessments, and lists for further reading. 

This content provider is based in Canada and all courses are in English. 

Titles include Human Resource Training: HR for the non-HR Manager; Public Speaking: Presentation Survival School; Managing Pressure and Maintaining Balance; and The ABC's of Supervising Others. 

What’s Shannon’s favorite course right now? 

I recently attended a session at our annual sales kick-off about identifying your strengths and weaknesses at work. The session dug into how we can find our strengths and the benefits of leaning into those areas to be happier and more fulfilled at work.  After the session, I went looking in Go1 to see what courses I could recommend providing a similar outcome and came across Identifying Your Strengths by ej4. I love ej4’s simple approach to training, offering a quick video, typically 3-7 minutes, followed by a quiz.  Most courses offer a downloadable resource as well.  This course gives easy steps to identify your strengths, how to ask for feedback from your peers, and the benefits of using a career coach to maximize your strengths.

The Go1 Content Insider - July 2022 edition

Creating a culture of learning is about continuously providing opportunities for your employees to learn and grow. Going forward, the Content Insider Blog will provide specific examples of content that you can roll out to your employees in the following month to keep your employees engaged with content all year round, while still keeping you informed of new content partners, new content, and existing partners to check out.

Our suggested playlists for July focus on two very important topics: Leadership and Office Safety. An introduction to leadership theory, developing trust, managing teams, and taking an empathy-first approach are all part of the playlist titled “Get Results Through Others: Intro to Leadership & Management.” Included in the “Enhance Health & Safety: Office Environments” playlist are courses on situational awareness, ergonomics, emergency exits, fire extinguishers, and simple exercises that can be done at your desk. In this blog, we’re spotlighting three of the content partners featured on these playlists: Filtered, Pinktum, and Marcom. You can find links to the July playlists on Go1’s 12 Months of Learning website.

For over four years, UK-based content partner Filtered has been offering engaging, high-quality courses through the Content Hub. They currently have 38 titles on topics ranging from Microsoft Excel to data science to critical thinking. Filtered specializes in in-depth learning. Their courses are all more than an hour-long, with their longest course lasting 32 hours! Each course begins with a detailed pre-assessment that directs learners to areas of focus. Learners can take the entire course or focus on high-priority chapters within it.

Pinktum (formerly Pink University) has been creating high-impact learning experiences for over 25 years. They offer over 200 courses through the Content Hub, many of them featuring localized language support in Chinese, German, Spanish, and French. Based in Germany, Pinktum develops content for global audiences on topics such as design thinking, conflict resolution, virtual teams, scrum, and storytelling in the workplace.

Specializing in the manufacturing, healthcare, and industrial space, Marcom is a leading partner of traditional -style health and safety learning experiences. Their current Content Hub offering is over 1000 courses… and is growing! Marcom recently added industry-specific versions of their “Workplace Violence” course. If you need content on construction, industrial hygiene, PPE (and so much more), this partner has you covered.

What new content partner have we added to the Content Hub? 

This new content partner, based in Germany, provides courses on sustainability, data compliance, information security, digital skills, and diversity & inclusion.

What’s Shannon’s favorite course right now?  

Finding a favorite course this month was a bit tough. I have been diving into the new content partner, Emeritus, that we introduced in May, and have taken a variety of courses – everything from The Art of Gathering by Priya Parker to The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell. Emeritus courses are typically 20-30 minutes and are a great way to get in a little professional or personal development in your day. Their courses would also make a great lunch and learn – watching a course as a group and then having discussions after. As a leader, I found Setting a Vision for the Future particularly helpful.

Feeling safe and secure is fundamental to doing our best work. There are a lot of factors that help us feel safe at work, including our ability to be ourselves in the workplace. In this issue, we are spotlighting partners who teach us how to be safe and how to help others feel safe, in a variety of ways.

Thomson Reuters has been a trusted source of truth for years and they bring that credibility to a suite of compliance and regulation courses. With over 750 titles in the Content Hub, Thomson Reuters covers topics from anti-bribery and fraud prevention to code of conduct and the California Consumer Privacy Act. Though they are based in Toronto, Canada, they offer region-specific and global courses. Their courses range from 5 minutes to 2 hours, with the majority between 30-60 minutes.

Australian-based content provider ViaUp offers high-quality, often whimsical (but still serious and substantial) health and safety eLearning experiences. Featuring animated videos, their 21 courses are refreshingly modern, especially in the health and safety space. All their courses are under one hour, with most them between 15 and 30 minutes.  

ViaUp’s Office Ergonomics course, hosted by a crash test dummy, is a crowd favorite. Other great courses include:

Blue Ocean Strategy (a suite of three courses) 

Founded in 2009, US-based Enspark features titles focused on leadership, human resources, general management, people and communication skills, HR compliance, computer science & engineering, and personal development. They have 100 titles available in the Content Hub, 28 of which are in languages other than English (including Chinese, Polish, and Turkish). All but one of their courses are under an hour in duration.

OneHourLearning courses use animation and practical examples to engage learners. 

Based in the US, this new content provider brings new options for customers looking to provide sexual harassment content to their employees. 

They offer high-quality video-based content that covers state-specific requirements, as well as global sexual harassment courses. 

EasyLlama uses a fresh approach to emphasize the importance of creating a safe environment in the workplace.
