With the release of the end of July Go1 update we have several improvements to the platform that will help to improve managing both users and content for Administrators. Updates to the way learning items are displayed, tool to allow Administrators to mark attendance in events, region based tags and the introduction of coupons headline our improvements, as well as a stack of other updates to improve the way you train your team.

Assessors can mark attendance for events in courses

After introducing the ability to include events within courses earlier this year, we have now added a new tool to make tracking in-person events even easier. You can now open a list of all event attendees and simply click the button in the ‘Attended’ column to track the user.

Administrators can now generate their own coupons within Go1 which can then be applied by users to redeem courses in a portal, or specific courses as specified by the Administrator. These can be created for a percentage or monetary value, with the ability to cater for partial or full purchase of content on behalf of the user.

We understand that one of the most important aspects of engagement when it comes to learning content is how it looks to the end user. In this updated the way that learning items will appear both individually and within modules, to allow for a more visually friendly experience.

Add tags and regions to individual Learning Items

If you are creating content that is available across a range of topics and specific locations, our update to tags will help you to get your content seen. You can now specify tags and regions for individual learning items making it easier to create material across a range of locations where the content is relevant only to a local audience.

Improve your training with our end of July update

What better way to kick off July than with some updates to the Go1 Platform. As we pass by the midpoint of the year, we have made more updates to improve your learning experience and to ensure that you are getting the most out of the Go1 System. In this update, you will find improvements to several Administrator functions, including assigning courses,  managing you learning items, as well and being able bulk delete items and much more.

Want to assign a particular team or department certain courses? Now you can. Within the ‘Discussion’ in the menu bar you can select a group on the right hand side and then click on the ‘Learning’ header on the left hand side of the screen. From here you can add courses that will be included as assigned learning for all members of that group.

Courses can be arranged in user specified order for Awards

We recently introduced you to the Awards feature within the Go1 Platform. We have made an update that allows you to control how the courses in awards are displayed by enabling Administrators to define the display order of all courses within an Award. This means you can position the courses you would prefer your learners enroll into as the top courses.

What you need to know about the Go1 July update

Learning and Development departments have always been the gatekeepers of online learning content, not only distributing but also creating the content for their organisations.

What if we told you that it doesn’t have to be this way?

One of our latest updates to the Go1 Platform puts the creative power back into the hands of your learners themselves, and we are excited to announce our Collaborative Course Creation Tools.

Traditionally when it comes to course and content creation most organisations will have a team dedicated to creating their learning material, or have contracts in place with external contractors who are tasked with the job of preparing material.

For smaller businesses this can also fall back onto human resource managers, who already have very limited time to spend on creating learning material as they are generally juggling a multitude of tasks at any one time.

So why not start tapping into the knowledge within your team

There is no one that can create better learning content for your organisation than your team itself. They understand all aspects of your business, how you operate, and the processes behind the scenes. While providing training in areas such as compliance and workplace safety may need to be created by a specialist team, when it comes to onboarding, up-skilling, process improvement and training for systems knowledge, tapping into your team knowledge will allow for a much more accurate and tailored program.

In larger companies this can be a huge advantage. You have a range of subject matter experts at your fingertips, and sharing their knowledge with employees across other departments within the organisation can be a great way to develop a culture of collaboration and learning.

How to get started with Collaborative Course Creation Tools in Go1

Normally when you set up your Go1 portal, only Administrators have access to be able to create new content within the portal. The only problem with this in the past has been that you need to make a user an Administrator to starting building out content for your team, but that may expose them to elements of your platform that contain sensitive information.

To combat this problem we have added a new setting to your portal which allows to have all users within a portal creating content regardless of whether they are a student or an administrator.

To get started, click on your name in the top right corner of the screen and then select Portal Settings. From here head to the menu on the right hand side of the page and select the Configuration option.

Scroll to the bottom of the Configuration page and you will find 2 tick boxes under the Course Authors section. Tick the box labelled Allow all users to create content, then click the Submit button at the bottom of the page. That’s it, you’re ready to go!

Your portal is now set up to have all users creating content and helping by sharing their knowledge to train your team.

Don’t forget to tell your users about their new creative powers, and it also helps to set up an incentive program that rewards your creators, because after all their content is going to be able to take your organisation to the next level!

As we edge towards the halfway point of the years we are putting the focus onto improving the way in which you manage both your learners and your learning content in our June update. We know that being able to easily track and manage your users is critical to meeting your learning goals, and we are constantly working to make that as easy as possible.

In this months update you will find updates to saving and managing your custom reports, forcing users to watch full videos before marking as complete, as well as a heap of other improvements to the system.

Being able to create custom reports in GO1 has never been easier, and now we have added a new features that allows you to save your reports in your portal - saving you time and giving you quick access to the information that you need.

One of the latest features we've added to the Go1 platform since the launch of Go1 2017 is our custom quiz builder. You can now quickly and easily create your own quiz in a matter of minutes, with our drag and drop tools that take the pain out of creating and managing assessments.

Navigate to the course you would like modify and select ‘Edit Course’ and module that you would like to add your quiz to, and then click the ‘Add an Item’ button.

From here select the ‘Create a Quiz’ option. Enter the name of your Quiz and add a description, then click ‘Create’.

Select the assessment types that you want to include in your quiz by dragging the question types from the left to the right hand side. You can also edit your quiz name and description while the quiz editor is open.

For each question type, move your cursor towards the three dots on the right hand side of the question block and click ‘Edit’, this will then open up the individual question editor. Fill out your assessment details following the instructions on left hand side, and if desired, you can toggle the response settings on the right hand side.

Above your question setup, you will see two toggles - ‘Build’ and ‘Configuration’. The above step has completed the build portion of quiz setup, however by clicking on the configuration text you can further customize the way in which your user will experience your quiz. This includes allowing for skipping questions, repeating incorrect answers, making the answer order randomised and more.

Once you have set up your configuration, click ‘Save & Exit’ in the top right corner of the screen to return to the user view.

Click the big start button at the bottom of the quiz page to start your quiz and experience the same assessment process as your learners.

Your quiz is now complete and ready to share with your learners! Start enrolling users into your course, and see how much of your learning material they have been able to retain.

Assessments made easy with the Go1 quiz builder

With so many courses on offer to meet compliance standards, it can be tough selecting which courses your team should be taking. Those days are gone with Go1 Awards.

Being locked in to a set group of courses that your employees need to complete is not for everyone. Every training provider has a unique way of presenting learning content, as well as testing for competency, all while the compliance requirements associated with the topic.

Just like in many other aspects of life, people learn in different ways, and while one training providers course may be engaging to one employee, another employee may prefer the learning style of a different provider.

So why can’t your employees choose which course they want to complete? Now they can!

Go1 Portal Administrators can now create an Award, within which they can specify which courses, or sets of course can be completed to obtain certification in a particular area.

As an example, your organisation may have a requirement that all team members to complete 3 courses in leadership every year. The administrator can create an award called ‘Leadership Training’ and nominate any courses that they would like to include from your course library. The employees will then be able to chose the 3 courses that they would like to do from the list, and then be accredited with the award.

Administrators can navigate to the Awards tab in the Administrator menu. Here you can create a new award by defining the conditions and selecting the course that can be taken to meet the requirements of the training.

Another great feature associated with the above scenario is the ability to set a reset time for each employee, so that after one year their training resets and the are required to complete another 3 courses.

This can be used across all aspects of your business to keep up with compliance in workplace health and safety, professional development elements, product training, and for tracking CPD requirements.

As a user, you can find “Awards” located under the “Explore” tab. Here the user can see all of their current awards, along with their status. By clicking on a award, you can read more information.

In the past, keeping up with internal compliance has required multiple applications, and manual input. Awards simplifies the way in which you can keep track of your team, and allows you to quickly and easily access reports to prove compliance whenever you need them.

Track your internal compliance with Go1 awards

Following on from our recent release of Go1 2017, we’re already back working hard to simplify the way you learn. In this update we have improved the administrator experience for marking assessments, including adding the ability to provide feedback, announcing a new feature called “Awards” and updates to settings so that you can embed more items into your courses.

With so many courses available to meet compliance, you can now let your user choose which courses they would like complete to meet requirements to achieve an “Award”. Administrators can select the courses that are eligible to obtain an award as well as being able to set an expiry date if periodic training is required to meet compliance.

You can find “Awards” located under the “Explore” tab, and Administrators navigate to the Awards tab in the Administrator menu, where you can set up and define the conditions around a new award.

Taking our assessment tools to the next level, administrators can now set pass marks when creating a new quiz, and for long answers admins can review and grade responses easily from the “My Teaching” tab within their dashboard.

To incorporate more traditional classroom interaction into our online learning, administrators can also now provide feedback to users in relation to “Long Answer” question types. This allows the user to understand more about their assessment, and provide meaningful guidance around the question subject.

Embed any content in a course text area with iFrame

Adding the content that you want to your course has never been easier! With this update you can now embed content from websites, where embedding is supported, directly into your course, by using an iframe within a text box.

This allows you to embed public content from 1700+ providers including YouTube, Vimeo, Twitter, and many more. Include the content you want your users to see, without clunky restrictions.

Want to turn your classroom training material in an online course but don’t want to spend days putting everything together so it looks good? We’re here to help you out!

After recently releasing Go1  2017 version, one of the most exciting features that we have developed as a part of this release is our new course creation tool. Designed so that anyone can create a course in a matter of minutes; adding content, editing text, setting up modules and importing interactive learning files is now as simple as clicking a button.

There are tools out there that allow you to create a website by clicking to add information, so we have adopted a similar experience for building courses, so that we can have more people creating and sharing their content.

Our visual based creation tools make it so that you don’t need to be an expert to create your own course. If you want to add images; click to upload, if you want to add or edit text; click the text you’d like to change and text editing options will appear.

We’ve also made it easy to import all of your favorite file types as you are creating your course. This includes video, audio, text, documents, spreadsheets and interactive files such as SCORM files. We have created a quiz builder where you can test out your users knowledge via a range of methods including multiple choice, matching answers, fill in the blank, long answer and more.

We understand that you need flexibility when uploading content, especially when it comes to video - so we’ve made sure that we have got all of the options you might use covered. Adding a video directly from a YouTube URL is as simple as copying and pasting, or if you have your own video, you can upload it directly into your portal where Go1 will host your files for free.

One new element of course in Go1 that we are particularly excited about is the ability to add an in-person event to a course. This allows you to run a blended learning training program, with both your online and classroom events tracked all within the one course!

Simply create your online course the same way that you normally would, create a new module, click the 3 dots in the top right corner and select Event. You can then set all of the details relating to the event and hit save.

Now just arrange your modules into the order that you’d like them to appear, and then you are ready to go!

By creating your new course with the Go1 course creation tools, you can take the time and stress out of building courses, and focus on finding the best learning material to share with your team. When you combine these tools with the reporting and user tracking functionality of the Go1 Platform, you have the complete training package at your fingertips!
